Yes, in Arabic his name is Adam. Though "Aadam" with a long initial "Aa"
might be more phonetical. I don't the the origin or meaning of this name,
and don't have an Arabic dictionary handy. When my books arrive from
Kuwait, remind me to look it up. The word for "man" in Arabic is "insan"
and "earth/soil" is "ardh". Neither of these is close to Adam, though
there might be some synonyms.
