Yoel writes:
>>Elohim is NOT the plural of el (another word for god). Elim is the plural
>>of el. Elohim is either the singular or plural form of itself.
Jochen responds:
>Ever heard of "eloah" ?? and the plural of eloah is elohim. Hm....
>Too bad the article is dead before it began.
yoel
>First, elohah is rarely used, while elohim is more common.
>Second, SINCE YOU ARE BRINGING UP ENDINGS, elohah has a FEMININE ending-
Walid comments:
1) In Isa 44:8 "Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and
foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God(eloah) besides
me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."
(NIV)
How could it refer to a feminnine God here? since the ME is God of Israel.
Never the God of Israel is feminnine, and it does not matter how rare it is
used in The Old Testament.
Eloah in Hebrew, also Elah in Aramaic and also Arabic which means A GOD
Example: Eli Eli Lama Sabachtanee Arabic will be the same Elahi Elahi (My God
My God)
Elah = a God
i = My
Elah-i = My God
Elah(Eloah) is the masculine just like Eloah, if you want to make it
feminnine that shouldn't it be Eloaha ?
Yoel:
Elohah is usually a link word- for example elohah-yaakov, "the god
of Jacob".
WALID
then how could the God of Yaakov be feminnine, we have the same thing
in arabic(Elah Yacub) The God of Jacob. No feminnine
YOEL
It is related to the Aramaic elhah, and the Arabic Allah. In
fact, Elohah IS conjugated in plural FEMININE to signify idols.
WALID
are you sure that the Aramaic is elhah, could it be Elahh, double
check #426 it is Elahh and not elhah. Elhah means (for her) and has nothing
to do with gods.
YOEL
Do you know Hebrew?
WALID
Do you know Aramaic?
Also: Do you believe that God is a Female or Male? Just curious
YOEL
btw- did you know that the word elohim also means "judge"?
WALID
I thought that the word "Shaphat" means Judge
could you prove by giving me the reference for that?
