(DAVE 5/22) Ian: As I say, I don't know and am quite open to either
option. I wonder sometimes though - if the 24 hour period is "literal" -
then we can conclude that it is highly likely this sovereign being made
things happen very quickly (the "finger snapping" theory). In this
scenario, why would it take him 24 hours? Why not instantaneously? If
there is a longer process (ex. evolution) it makes sense for the longer time
period, but something that quick wouldn't need a whole 24 hours - why didn't
God do everything in 5 minutes?
Ian
Yes, evolution COULD be a part of the creation process but IF it is, it IS NOT
created by the God of the Bible (my opinion).
(DAVE 5/22) Ian: Why do you think so? (I'm not disagreeing with you, just
curious).
Just to clarify: are you saying that EVOLUTION itself is not created by the
God of the Bible, or that if evolution was the process we came into being
by, then it wasn't at the hands of the God of the Bible?
Ian
Why would you want a day to last a thousand years? You're not afraid of
going to
hell are you?
(DAVE 5/22) Ian: Not at all, actually. I honestly hardly give "hell" any
thought at all. What I meant was that I am so busy right now that I wish I
had 1000 years for this flimsy little 24 hours we have now - the weather has
been so awful up here that my business is taking a real beating as this time
of year is the "show" - I like to think I have a stable composure but I
think it is draining on me - it's just one of those periods in my life where
there just aren't enough hours in the day - I'm sure you can relate.
Ian
I'm still editing my book before sending it to Dave Matson. It should have
been done
a long time ago but many things took priority. I'll let you know.
(DAVE 5/22) Ian: You see - with a good 1000 year "day" you could have had
500 books published by now! Please keep me posted on it (What is it called?)
Regards.
Dave.
"Enough awareness invaded your consciousness that you realized it was best
to get out of bed, into your clothes and get on with the day...In the same
way, enough of the Person of Christ and his purposes and the needs of the
world must invade our consciousness so that we are able to sleep no
longer...we awake to get on with God's redemptive purposes."
