Thank you for your recent e-mail expressing your concerns about the
comments made by Dr. Henry Jordan at the State Board of Education
meeting. I appreciate your taking the time to write.
I, too, was dismayed by Dr. Jordan's reported comments. I do not
believe these comments represent the views of South Carolinians, the
majority of whom believe that mutual respect and individual dignity
are a cornerstone of civilization.
Dr. Jordan has recently apologized for these remarks, and he now
seeks forgiveness from all South Carolinians. I think it is healthy
and proper that South Carolinians accept Dr. Jordan's apology and
move on.
Once again, thank you for your correspondence and for your interest
in this matter.
