A fellow from AOL made the following observations regarding Tyre. A nice
summary.

Subj: The failed prophecy of Tyre

...I marvel that some can defend this prophecy as having been fulfilled.

Ezekiel, claiming "For thus says the Lord God", gives an extensive, detailed
prophecy [Ezekiel ch 26] that Tyre will be looted by Nebuchadnezzar, utterly
destroyed, scraped bare, hit by many nations like the waves of the sea,
submerged by the ocean, never rebuilt, never again inhabited, and never found
again. These are 8 predictions that have not come true. The city was NOT
looted by Nebuchadnezzar, it has NEVER been completely destroyed, NOR was it
EVER SCRAPED BARE, it was NOT hit by many nations like the waves of the sea,
it was never SUBMERGED BY THE SEA, damage to the city HAS BEEN REBUILT, it is
CURRENTLY INHABITED and ALWAYS HAS BEEN, and it is EASILY FOUND!!! And, to
top it off EZEKIEL HIMSELF CONCEDED THE FAILURE 16 years later!!! [Ezekiel
29:18]

Ezekiel 29:18 "Mortal King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon made his army labor
hard against Tyre; every head was made bald and every shoulder was rubbed
bare; yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor
he had expended against it." (NRSV)

In Ezekiel ch 29, while admitting the failed prophecy concerning
Nebuchadnezzar, Ezekiel gives specific details of how Nebuchadnezzar will
conquer EGYPT instead. This prophecy ALSO failed on almost every point.

DETAILED FAILURE:

Ezekiel's prophecies concerning Tyre failed miserably on the eight most
important predictions, constituting almost the entire prophecy:

1. The city was NOT plundered and looted by Nebuchadnezzar as specifically
predicted at 26:12. Ezekiel even admitted this 16 years later at 29:18.

2. It has NEVER been completely and permanently destroyed as predicted
throughout Ezekiel chapter 26.

3. NOR was it EVER SCRAPED BARE as predicted by verses 26:4 & 26:14. Ruins
and archaeological remains still exist today.

4. MANY NATIONS did not come against Tyre like the sea casting up waves as
predicted at 26:3. Nebuchadnezzar failed, Alexander the Great was almost
THREE CENTURIES LATER, and the next major defeat was almost SIXTEEN CENTURIES
after Alexander.

5. It was never SUBMERGED BY THE SEA as predicted by 26:19.

6. Damage to the city HAS BEEN REBUILT in direct contradiction to 26:14.

7. It is CURRENTLY INHABITED and ALWAYS HAS BEEN, in violation of 26:19.

8. And it can EASILY be FOUND in dramatic violation of 26:21.

I've discussed this issue at length in numerous folders and on the internet,
and have yet to see a credible reply to any of the failures, though some have
made some embarrassing blunders trying {Tyring?}.

Let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of any further
assistance.
