Seems fair. If Dave refuses to deal with anything other than
the Moseroth vs. Hor aspect of this problem he should at least
have the decency of dealing with Farrell's detailed and well
articulated arguments.
TILL
Until then, I can only conclude that you are going to evade
information that is detrimental to your position. Besides, you
have ignored the fact that I said I would concede, for the sake of
argument, that Moseroth and Mt. Hor were the same
place if you would just pass on to the other problems that I have
posted about the wilderness stories and try to show us that it is
reasonable and intelligent to believe that these stories are
historically accurate.
DAR
I have been away for some of this. You mean Dave has still
not addressed, dealt with in anyway, the much more pressing
problem contained within the very scriptures in question? Gee, I
wonder why?
Here it is again:
Three problems Dave won't deal with.
1) KADESH vs. BEEROTH
2) ZALMONAH vs. GUDGODAH
3) PUNON vs. JOTBATH
After leaving KADESH they went to mount HOR. Following
Aaron's death ON MOUNT HOR they continued on to
ZALMONAH and then PUNON.
And they removed from KADESH, and pitched in MOUNT
HOR, in the edge of the land of Edom. And Aaron the priest
went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the LORD,
AND DIED THERE... And they departed from mount Hor, and
pitched in ZALMONAH. And they departed from Zalmonah,
and pitched in PUNON. Num. 33:37-42. See also Num. 20:27-
28; Deut. 32:50
VERSUS
After leaving BEEROTH they went to MOSERA. Following
Aaron's death IN MOSERA they continued on to GUDGODAH
and then JOTBATH.
And the children of Israel took their journey from BEEROTH
of the children of Jaakan to MOSERA: THERE AARON
DIED, and there he was buried, and Eleazar his son ministered
in the priest's office in his stead. From thence they journeyed
unto GUDGODAH; and from Gudgodah to JOTBATH... Deut.
10:6,7
Come on Dave, give it a try! Worst thing that would happen is
that the Bible would once again be observed to be hopelessly
contradictory and it would become even more apparent that your
inerrancy brand of Christianity is as bankrupt as ever.
Course your silence on this demonstrates that pretty well too.
Also, I thought this was good:
DAVE
> And if the NIV translation is doing the same thing as Farrell,
then it should be criticized, although I notice it uses the word
"possibly" and
> doesn't state anything categorically.
<<RAYMOND 5/4
(BTW, the NIV does claim to know where Mount Hor is--the
note says "possibly Mt. Hermon, but NOT the Hor of 20:22."
How would the authors know they are not the same unless they
know where Mount Hor is?)<<
DAR
Good one Raymond. If I have a quarter for every time I had
caught Dave trying to pull a fast one like this... whoa, big bucks.
cheers,
Darrel

"I will be very blunt with you, Dave. Your brother was a yellow-bellied
coward, who turned tail and ran when he saw that the evidence for
biblical inerrancy could not be refuted. However, I will say this much
for him. He was at least intelligent enough to run. His brother has no
more sense than to remain on the list and daily make a fool of himself."
